A senior cat without ears patiently sat at the shelter, overlooked by many until a kind-hearted young woman came along and immediately connected with him.
Molly Lichtenwalner, a graduate student, sought a remedy for her anxiety following a stressful car accident. After exploring different options, she decided to bring a furry friend into her life. Molly, who has always had cats around her due to her upbringing on a farm, was drawn to the idea of adopting an adult cat with special needs, knowing they are often overlooked. When she came across Otitis, a unique-looking 9 and a half year-old cat on PetFinder, she instantly felt a connection and knew he was the perfect match for her.
Molly reached out to the Feline Rescue Association of Baltimore, the organization that had taken care of him and found him a loving foster home. She wanted to learn more about his story. Unfortunately, he had lost his ears because his previous owners couldn’t afford treatment for the massive cysts. As a result, they had to surrender him to FRA.
Molly Lichtenwalner from @adventuresofotitis shared that Otitis had to have his ears removed, leaving him deaf. However, Molly didn’t mind and was actually the first person to apply to adopt him. Just a day after bringing Otitis home, he blossomed and couldn’t resist snuggling with his new forever mom. Every day, Otitis showers his mom with kisses and cuddles.
Thanks to the senior kitty, life was never the same again.
Otitis makes sure his mom is safe when she’s asleep.
He always keeps an eye out, constant and vigilant…
Despite his advanced years, Otitis remains spry and playful, embodying the spirit of a forever young kitten.
His deafness doesn’t faze him at all; he has his own unique way of “hearing” the world around him.
“No more screens, just give me some good ol’ attention, meow!”

Molly shared with Love Meow that her furry companion is her Emotional Support Animal who never fails to provide comfort with snuggles, especially during stressful or panic-inducing moments. She expressed how he has a calming effect on her like nothing else can, emphasizing that he has truly been a lifesaver for her. Molly feels grateful to have him in her life, stating that he rescued her in ways she could never have imagined.
