An adorable little kitten with short legs was brought to a shelter in Jacksonville, Florida, looking as tiny as a spud.
Kaitlyn, a veterinary technician and a member of the foster team at the shelter, crossed paths with a vulnerable little kitten when he needed her the most. She has a soft spot for the underdogs and often ends up fostering the ones with low chances of survival or those that are harder to find homes for.
The tuxedo kitten, previously known as Humpty-Dumpty, appeared to have been abandoned at the shelter without anyone noticing. It is believed that he was discovered as a stray somewhere.
At just six weeks old, the kitten had some health issues that required constant attention and care. Kaitlyn decided to take him in, giving him the opportunity to have a fighting chance at life that he may not have had otherwise.
Kaitlyn, known as @foster.rinse.repeat on social media, affectionately nicknamed him Potato, a moniker that quickly caught on. For weeks on end, she made sure he was always by her side, even taking him along to her workplace to provide round-the-clock care and support in his recovery journey.
Kaitlyn, who goes by the username @foster.rinse.repeat, shared the story of Potato, a cat who faced difficulties in using the litter box and required multiple visits to the vet for treatment. Despite the challenges, Kaitlyn remained committed to helping Potato get better. Reflecting on the experience, she noted that Potato was always calm and laid-back, sticking close to her wherever she went. Kaitlyn from @foster.rinse.repeat shared that guessing the age of the pup was challenging at first due to his mature behavior despite having few teeth. Even at three months old, he only had six teeth. His little legs and developmental delays led them to suspect that he may have dwarfism.
It took some time for the vet to identify his intestinal problems, but Kaitlyn persevered. Once he could handle his potty needs on his own, his playful nature really shone through.
Kaitlyn from the Instagram account @foster.rinse.repeat mentioned that Potato will need to take medication for an unspecified amount of time. However, despite this, Potato remains carefree and playful, living each day to the fullest.
According to Kaitlyn, Potato takes pleasure in his collection of playthings, with a stuffed bird on a string being his favorite. She has cleverly set it up so that it constantly dangles, allowing Potato to entertain himself for hours on end by playing with it while lying on his back.
