A tiny kitten, with large soulful eyes, journeyed across continents to join the perfect family she had always dreamed of.
Laila D’Souza, the founder of Winston Memorial Foundation in Kuwait, had a heartwarming experience last autumn when she rescued a tiny kitten from a dire situation. The little furball had been separated from her mother and sold to a family when she was just one week old. She was facing a myriad of health issues, including worms and intestinal problems, when Laila found her.
At four weeks old, the kitten was surrendered to Laila’s rescue organization, where she received the critical care she desperately needed. Laila wasted no time in taking the kitten under her wing, providing her with the necessary treatment and lots of love. The grateful kitten, named Mia, immediately showed signs of improvement.
Through dedicated care and tender love and care, Mia began to bounce back. Laila could see the transformation in Mia’s eyes as she cuddled her in her arms, free from the suffering she had endured before.
On her journey to complete healing, Mia transformed into a lively ball of mischief and energy, earning herself the title of the mischief princess. This adorable kitten quickly bonded with Laila’s resident dog, Leya, engaging in playful pouncing and even friendly wrestling matches.
Despite her small size, Mia fearlessly held her own during playtime with Leya, who was significantly larger. Leya served as a mentor to Mia, encouraging her to explore and experience new adventures while always keeping a watchful eye on her every move.

Mia was experiencing a newfound sense of happiness and vitality, unlike anything she had ever felt before. Her hunger seemed insatiable as she eagerly dove headfirst into her bowl of food, immersing herself in the act of eating. Her exuberance filled the house with a never-ending source of amusement, keeping everyone around her entertained.
Laila D’Souza had a unique way of preparing for her pounce – she would sway her hindquarters from side to side while zeroing in on her target. Mia had a determined expression on her face before every playful “attack”, her eyes filled with a sense of wonder and concentration.
According to Laila D’Souza, her cat is full of playful energy, affection, and a sense of curiosity. Whenever the kitten is focused on hunting something, she has a charmingly worried expression on her face that Laila finds adorable. The kitten has become quite skilled at pouncing and has a look of excitement on her face whenever she starts zooming around the house.

Mia, the tiny feline, found a companion in Leo, another rescue kitten, and their bond was instant. They guided each other through the intricacies of socializing as they engaged in typical kitten antics together.
Just before the holiday season, Mia and her friend Leo, along with a group of five other cats rescued from Kuwait, set off on a special trip to the United States to find their forever families. Thanks to the support of Petey and Furends and the 4Paws Rescue Team, dedicated animal rescue organizations in the Greater Washington D.C. region, these deserving felines were given the opportunity for a fresh start and a brighter future.
