Surprise at the Shelter: Two Kittens, One Carrier

Kitten Was Dropped Off at Shelter in a Carrier — They Found Another Hiding Under a Towel

A shelter received a carrier with a kitten inside that had been signed over, but staff were taken aback when they found a second kitten hidden within.

Sarah Kelly, known as @kellyfosterkittens on social media, was pleasantly surprised when a local animal shelter in North Carolina reached out to her for help with a lone kitten in need of foster care. The tiny tabby, just three weeks old, tugged at Sarah’s heartstrings as she made plans to pick him up for some much-needed bottle feeding.

As Sarah and her team at Sparkle Cat Rescue prepared to welcome the solo kitten into their care, they received an unexpected twist. The shelter called back with surprising news – the once “solo” kitten actually had a sibling! The new addition sparked excitement and joy within the team, leading them to dub the duo as Barnes and Noble in a nod to the fateful encounter at the book store.

The heartwarming story of the bonded siblings finding their way to safety and care reflects the power of community and compassion in the world of animal rescue. Sarah’s dedication to helping these kittens highlights the importance of fostering and providing love to animals in need.

Sarah Kelly, also known as @kellyfosterkittens, shared a heartwarming story from the shelter. Initially, the shelter staff thought there was only one kitten in the carrier, but to their surprise, there was a second one hidden in the back. The second kitten had been concealed under a towel, and when it was finally revealed, a small ball of fluffy cuteness emerged. The shelter had no information about this mysterious second kitten and were clueless about how the two tabbies ended up together. Despite the lack of knowledge about their past, it was evident that the bond between these two kittens was strong right from the beginning.

Sarah Kelly, under the Instagram handle @kellyfosterkittens, shared with Love Meow that she lovingly named these two kittens Barnes and Noble. Noble is slightly older, by about 2-3 weeks, while Barnes is smaller and enjoys cuddling up in his brother’s fluffy fur. Sarah speculates they may have different mothers based on their age difference.

Sarah Kelly, known as @kellyfosterkittens on social media, noted that the kittens are probably from the same group of cats. She suggested that maybe their mothers were siblings. According to Sarah, the kittens share a strong bond and rely on each other for support.

The larger kitten, Noble, takes on the role of looking after his younger brother. On their first day together, they stayed close in a litter box, which Sarah mentioned is their safe and comforting place, and refused to be separated from each other.

Sarah Kelly, also known as @kellyfosterkittens, observed that the kittens initially preferred to sleep in the box. It seemed like they were accustomed to sleeping outdoors, maybe on rough surfaces like gravel. However, once they felt secure in their new environment, they mustered up the courage to explore beyond their litter box and enjoy the comfort of plush beds and soft carpets.
