Sand cats are like the eternal kids of the feline world, never seeming to grow out of their cute kitten-like features. Found in the deserts of North Africa, Arabia, Central Asia, and Pakistan, these little critters are in danger due to illegal pet trading and hunting for sport.
These cats are true survivors, able to withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -5 °C to 52 °C and can go without water for long periods thanks to the moisture in their food. But sadly, a recent study found that only 61% of captive-born sand cats make it to 30 days old, mainly because their moms tend to neglect them. They’re also prone to respiratory issues, which means they’re better off admired from afar than kept as pets.
