When rescuers stumbled upon a social media post detailing a kitten in need of a foot, they immediately knew they had to step in and assist.
Sparkle Cat Rescue, located in Burlington, North Carolina, recently had a heartwarming experience involving their volunteers, Kristi and Eric. The duo came across a plea for help on Facebook regarding a kitten in urgent need of assistance. Despite their quick response, the kitten had already been brought to a shelter before they could reach her.
Unfortunately, the shelter’s whereabouts were unknown to Kristi and Eric, which meant they were unable to provide the necessary medical attention and around-the-clock care for the young kitten, who was also missing a foot.
In a turn of events, Brian, a dedicated volunteer at Burlington Animal Services, took it upon himself to investigate the situation. He travelled to the shelter that very night but was unable to locate the kitten. Undeterred, Brian continued his search and extended his efforts to the Mebane Police Department in hopes of finding the missing feline in need.
Provided by Sparkle Cat Rescue, the kitten was found at the county shelter. The team at Sparkle Cat quickly arranged to rescue her the following day. Volunteers Rowan and Eric worked together to ensure the kitten made it safely to her new foster home.
Stephanie Grantham, Co-Founder/Executive Director of Sparkle Cat Rescue, expressed, “It was a team effort to bring her to safety.” They decided to name the little kitten Uni, who may be small but has a powerful purring engine.
Sparkle Cat Rescue’s foster volunteer, Sarah Kelly, affectionately named the unique singleton girl Uno, but added a feminine touch by calling her Uni. According to Sarah, Uni adores her new UNIcorn pillow, making the name a perfect fit for this special feline.
Sparkle Cat Rescue has a unique feline named Uni who is missing a foot but doesn’t let it hold her back. The little kitty uses her three remaining paws and tail to get around and doesn’t seem bothered by her missing foot. Even though she has a stump in place of her back right paw, Uni is still able to stand, balance, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Sarah from Sparkle Cat Rescue shared with Love Meow that the cat they rescued is quite chatty and loves to dictate how much love and affection she should receive. She is very sociable, and she quickly starts purring when it’s time for her feeding.
Sparkle Cat Rescue recently took Uni to the veterinarian for a thorough check-up and leg examination. The resilient feline showed immense bravery throughout the entire examination, constantly purring to show her resilience.
According to Sarah, it is suggested that Uni’s leg stump may have been a result of her mother cleaning her too vigorously during birth or it may have gotten stuck on something during her early days of life.
At Sparkle Cat Rescue, we are keeping a close eye on her development in the upcoming week before deciding on our next course of action. Thankfully, she is in high spirits and appears to be in good health overall. This tiny bundle of fur has transformed into a true snuggle buddy.
Uni may be small in stature, but she sure packs a big personality with loads of sass and cattitude. Even at her tender age, she’s already quite the talker. When she wants something, she’s persistent and won’t easily take no for an answer.
At Sparkle Cat Rescue, the tiny feline is receiving top-notch care and lots of snuggles. When she’s not chatting with her foster parent, she’s happily purring away in their embrace.
