Kefir, a massive Maine Coon cat, is owned by Yulia Minina from Stary Oskol. Yulia was surprised by how big Kefir grew to be, and she never imagined that her little kitten would become so large. Despite his intimidating size, Kefir is actually a very gentle and intelligent cat who always behaves calmly. His human-like appearance is striking, but he is a modest and affectionate pet who loves attention from visitors. Whenever Yulia’s friends and acquaintances come over, all eyes are on Kefir, and he enjoys being petted and doted on.
Around two years ago, she purchased Kefir when it was just a kitten. However, even now the pet seems to be growing. Apart from this, the cat has a habit of climbing on her and sleeping during the night. Though it did not bother her when Kefir was a kitten, now that it has become huge and heavy, it is difficult for her to sleep comfortably. At present, Kefir is almost two years old and weighs about 28lbs. Despite being so large, Kefir is still considered a kitten since Maine Coons take around 3-4 years to grow into adults. Therefore, it is likely that Kefir will continue to increase in size and weight in the coming years.

This breed was once considered the largest domesticated cat until the Savannah cat emerged in the 1980s. On average, male Maine Coons can weigh up to 18lbs, while females can weigh up to 12lbs. Additionally, they set the world record for the longest cat with Stewie from Nevada, measuring an impressive 48.5 inches from nose to tail before passing away in 2010.
