There are an abundance of adorable bleps on display here! It’s no secret that the internet is obsessed with cats. DryMouthKitty explained that a council of cats is defined as any group of cats, inspired by the idea from Pinky and The Brain, where cats secretly plot to take over the world when they are together. The concept of cats planning future world domination sparked the interest of Council Meowmbers and quickly gained popularity.

Darius S. (he/him) cis/grey posted about the chilling experience he had two months ago, sparking a conversation in the community. The moderator, DryMouthKitty, shared insights on community management, mentioning that spam is the biggest challenge they face due to bot accounts stealing and reposting content for karma. They enforce an Original Content rule to deter this behavior, with automated filters assisting in maintaining the community standards. The creator also pointed out their favorite posts, particularly those that capture cats in amusing situations that suggest the photographer is interrupting a feline gathering, like the post titled “The Newest Council Members.”

We had the opportunity to speak with Laura Watson, a Cat Welfare Assistant at International Cat Care and a Registered Veterinary Nurse, for this article. Laura graciously offered her knowledge and explained how cats generally feel about socializing with each other.
Laura pointed out that domesticated cats come from wildcat ancestors who were solitary predators and did not live in social groups. They were independent and self-reliant. Despite this, cats are adaptable animals and have shown the ability to adapt to group living through the development of social structures. They are considered socially flexible. If you’re interested in learning more about the social structure of cats, you can check out this resource.
