Introducing Mostaccioli Izanami: The Feline Duo That Will Steal Your Heart

Cats are remarkable creatures, and their fur is one of the many things that make them unique. With a range of colors and patterns, each feline friend is distinct in its own way. In California, a pair of adorable cats named Mostaccioli Izanami has been captivating audiences online. While Mostaccioli’s charming mustache has been attracting a lot of attention lately, let’s not forget about her cute cat friend, Izanami, who deserves recognition too! To feature the lovely pair on our website, I spoke with their owner, who kindly agreed to introduce them to our readers. So, without further ado, please say hello to Mostaccioli Izanami!

Can you tell us about how Mostaccioli Izanami became a part of your life?
My encounter with Mostaccioli Izanami started when I discovered her, along with her brothers, in my mom’s garden. They were drenched from the sprinklers and only a day old. I made sure to dry them off as soon as possible and fortunately, their feral mother was lured into a large kennel where I could tend to them properly. After ensuring they were well-fed and healthy, I had their mother spayed and gave their siblings up for adoption. Growing up, we noticed that Mostaccioli needed a companion, which led to my parents gifting me Izanami on my birthday.

Can you share the story behind your pets’ names?

Well, when we first saw our cat’s mustache, we immediately thought of Mario. However, since she was a girl, we didn’t want to name her that and decided to go for Italian-sounding names instead. As an avid fan of Italian cuisine, I looked up types of pasta online and stumbled upon Mostaccioli, which means Mustache in Italian. It was perfect for her!

As for our other pet, Izanami, I knew I wanted to give her a Japanese name for its unique sound. Being a fan of anime, I considered naming her after a character I liked but ultimately went for Izanami, the goddess of the underworld. She has this regal attitude but is actually the sweetest thing ever.

In terms of their relationship with each other, they get along amazingly well. Despite only being a few days apart in age, they act like they’ve known each other forever. They spend most of their time snuggling and grooming each other, but also love to play around. It took them a few days to warm up to each other, but now they’re inseparable and fiercely bonded.

Can you describe the personalities of these feline companions? Mostaccioli is a friendly and outgoing cat who loves attention and seeks it from people. She’s a curious and athletic cat who enjoys being petted while lying on her owner’s bed. Whenever she finds her Sherpa blanket on the bed, she immediately starts kneading biscuits for her owner. She’s also quite talkative and won’t shy away from begging for attention.

On the other hand, Izanami is a lazy cat who prefers to sleep on freshly dried laundry, her flower bed, or by the window to catch some fresh air and watch birds fly by. She’s always the first one to chatter for the birds when they come to the water fountain in front of the house. Occasionally, she gets energized and runs around very fast. Although she seems unapproachable, all she wants is some love and scratches. She’s currently working on perfecting her biscuit making but has only mastered single-handed biscuits so far.

Lastly, what are their favorite hobbies? Mostaccioli loves meeting new people and playing with her feather and laser toys. Izanami, on the other hand, loves sleeping and eating.

Do you know what makes Mostaccioli and Izanami unique? Mostaccioli, in fact, knows how to play dead when I say “bang!” It’s hilarious to watch her take a few shots before she falls down. She even complains with a meow when I hit her with my imaginary bullet. On the other hand, Izanami doesn’t know any tricks, but she sure knows how to beg for treats with her silent and rare meows. And if she wants double the treats, she’ll let out a loud meow. I want to give a shoutout to their cat mom, Natalie, for letting me share their story and cute photos with all of you, my dear Cattitude Daily readers.
