Carrot, an orange tabby, had a rough start after being found at a gas station. Initially fostered by someone else, Carrot ended up stressed and was eventually surrendered to an animal hospital where he lived for a few weeks. Fortunately, a compassionate friend working at the hospital brought Carrot to their apartment, where he quickly became a beloved member of the family. This viral photo has turned Carrot into a rising internet star.
“It was love at first sight for us and we instantly connected,” the owners shared. “We started fostering him on Monday and officially adopted him just five days later at 12 weeks old!” The newly minted cat parents are over the moon with their decision: “He’s our first cat and our best friend, and we feel incredibly lucky to have him.” Describing Carrot’s personality, the owners emphasized his boundless energy despite his small size: “He’s incredibly playful and has a huge personality. Playing with him is the key to his heart. He enjoys games like tag, playfully biting your hand, being chased, and even playing fetch with his favorite tiger stuffed animal. He’s also quite attached to us. When he’s not napping in his closet, he stays close by, usually within a foot or two. He has designated nap spots in every room, choosing according to where we are. Although he pretends not to like cuddling when we’re awake, almost every night I wake up to find him snuggled on my stomach or chest. And he’s a big fan of treats, which we used to teach him some tricks.”
The cat’s insatiable appetite for food sheds light on the viral image that has garnered thousands of likes and shares. Carrot’s owners revealed the backstory behind the picture: “Carrot finds it amusing to reach his paw into the fridge crack and grab at us while we’re inside. Contrary to what some people online believe, he has never been harmed by this playful gesture. Thankfully, we are a small household of two, so we are vigilant and aware when he tries to sneakily grab at us. The sign was simply a gentle reminder. The photo was a spontaneous capture, as we didn’t even consider taking it until we witnessed Carrot in action with the sign and couldn’t resist the perfect moment. Rest assured, had it been staged, we would have tidied up our fridge! Haha.”
