Furry Friends in Search of Stability: The Long Journey to Their Purrfect Home

Cats with Wobbly Feet Waited Nearly a Year for a Home of Their Dreams Together

For almost a year, a pair of cats with unsteady legs have been patiently waiting for their perfect forever home to come along.

Around 10 months back, Arthur and Aggie, two wobbly tabby cats, were given up at the Anchorage Animal Care and Control center in Alaska. As Aggie began losing weight after a few weeks, the staff decided to find a rescue organization to assist her.
Eventually, Arthur and Aggie were brought to Mojo’s Hope, a rescue group in Anchorage, in the hopes of finding them a better life. Initially, they were a bit hesitant, but they soon settled in once they realized they were in a safe and cozy environment.
Their strong bond quickly became apparent to everyone who met them.

Both Aggie and Arthur were born with a condition known as Cerebellar Hypoplasia, sometimes referred to as wobbly cat syndrome. Shannon Basner, the founder of Alaska’s KAAATs and Mojo’s Hope, affectionately shared that these two cats love to snuggle on their bed, couch, or even inside their special cube of love. Despite their condition affecting their balance and coordination, cats with CH like Aggie and Arthur can still lead a joyful and satisfying life.

Aggie and Arthur are inseparable companions with a special connection, according to Shannon Basner. She mentioned that despite their moderate form of CH, they are able to walk, climb (with supervision), use customized litter boxes, and have fun together. The specially designed litter boxes with tall sides and a flat opening, along with paper pellet litter and pee pads, help them stay clean and comfortable. The unique combination works well for these two furry friends.

Despite their occasional clumsiness, these two friends never fail to stir up trouble and enjoy themselves. They are so close that they always make sure to stay close together, constantly seeking each other out if they happen to be apart.
“Both of them are such amazing cuddle buddies, they enjoy curling up on you and lounging next to you while purring contentedly in their own little world,” Shannon affectionately described.

They love snuggling up with their human companion, Shannon Basner, all together. Shannon Basner noticed that Aggie has a strong bond with Arthur and sees him as her ultimate companion, besides the humans who love them. Following their spaying and neutering procedures, the inseparable pair started their search for a forever home. Despite the passing of days, weeks, and months, they have not found the perfect family to adopt them yet.

Shannon Basner, who are the closest of pals, received the adoption application they had been eagerly waiting for recently. The potential adopter took the time to educate themselves about cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia after discovering the unique needs of the duo. During their first meeting, Aggie and Arthur immediately took a liking to her, cuddling up and purring in sync.

Shannon Basner expressed her joy at witnessing the dedication and preparation put in by the new owner to welcome her incoming family members. It was heartwarming to see how well Aggie and Arthur, the bonded tabbies who are now six years old, adapted to their new home after almost a year of waiting. They are now ready to embark on a new chapter in their lives in their forever home.

After almost twelve months of anticipation, Aggie and Arthur have at last discovered their permanent residence. Shannon Basner, from the rescue organization, mentioned that they will offer a comprehensive transition strategy for the new family to guarantee a seamless adoption procedure. Shannon expressed her delight, saying, “We are thrilled that they will now have the opportunity to experience the love and comfort of their very own home.”
