Bored Panda got in touch with the owner of Chirico, the grumpy cat who resides in Tokyo and is three years old. The owner mentioned that Chirico’s favorite treat is strawberries, evident from the numerous posts showcasing the Japanese Selkirk Rex enjoying red berries.

Introduced in Montana in 1987, the Selkirk Rex cat breed is relatively new but has quickly garnered a devoted following for its unique wavy fur. This distinctive coat is a result of a natural genetic mutation discovered in a litter born to a blue tortoiseshell and a white cat.
According to the Cat Fancier’s Association, Selkirk Rexes can have either short or long fur. Maintaining their curly coat requires similar care to either short or long-haired cats, with less frequent brushing recommended. This unique combination occurred because both of DePesto’s parents had at least one copy of the long hair gene, resulting in the birth of long-haired offspring.
