If you’ve ever dreamed of having a lion as a pet, consider getting a Maine Coon cat instead. These domestic felines have long fur that frames their face like a mane but are much friendlier. Photographer Robert Sijka fell in love with the majestic breed and captures their beauty in striking portraits, from cute kittens to full-grown cats. Sijka’s passion for photography and Maine Coon cats developed when his family moved to China 14 years ago and began breeding these amazing animals. He has developed a unique style over time and now sells his prints, phone cases, blankets, and more in his online shop, the Felis Gallery. To capture endearing images, Sijka relies on practice and patience, especially since he and his wife now own a cattery with 20 Maine Coons.
With a family business of 20 cats in their cattery, OtiCami, there’s no shortage of opportunities for him to practice and improve his cat-handling skills.
