When President of the Naples Cat Alliance, Megan Sorbara, stumbled upon a white kitten being lovingly cared for by two tabby siblings, she knew something was amiss. The poor little thing was struggling to walk on her own, so Sorbara took them all to the shelter for help. She decided to give them all names based on gelato flavors – Praline, Pistachio, and Coconut. It’s quite funny actually, as she was actually on her way to get some ice cream when she got a text about the kittens!
It was discovered that Coconut, the white kitten, had a noticeable head tilt to the left, which explained the siblings’ protective behavior towards her. Sorbara attempted to use Coconut as bait to lure their mother back, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
In a surprising turn of events, Sorbara’s dog Bitsy stepped up as the foster mother for these adorable kittens. Turns out, Bitsy is a huge cat lover and provided extra love and care, especially to Coconut.
Sorbara mentioned to Bored Panda that cuddling with Bitsy was beneficial for Coconut’s muscles, helping her to stretch and strengthen. Thanks to this care, Coconut was making progress every day, becoming stronger and able to move around with more ease.
And here’s the scoop – in approximately 10 weeks, these sweet kittens, also known as ‘the ice-cream kitten’, will be available for adoption. Who wouldn’t want to bring one of these cuties home?
It became apparent that they were looking out for her well-being, ensuring she was cozy and supported since she struggled to walk without assistance.
They were brought to the shelter where they were given the names Pistachio and Praline for the tabby ones, and Coconut was given a name as well.
Coconut had a noticeable tilt to the left with her head.
Efforts were made by the rescuers to use the kitten as a lure in hopes of capturing its actual mother, but unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful.
Can you believe who ended up being the caretaker of these adorable little ones? It was none other than Bitsy the dog!
Surprisingly, this pup has proven to be the ultimate feline aficionado!
She was also saved and now showers all her affection on orphaned kittens.
Bitsy, the canine, has a deep affection for each of the three kittens.
It seems that snuggling up with the pooch is really benefiting Coconut’s muscles by aiding in her stretching, movement, and ability to climb.
Each day, Coconut is growing more resilient. I have faith that she will overcome these challenges, but only time will reveal the true extent of her progress.
