Tiny Kitten Task Force
One fateful Christmas morning, a dedicated employee at Williamson Animal Hospital made a surprising discovery while checking on the furry residents. A pair of milk crates, strapped together with a note attached, held a beautiful two-year-old cat with a badly injured leg. The founder of IBKC, Dorella Tuckwiller, was moved by the sight.
Without hesitation, the team at Itty Bitty Kitty Committee in Charleston, West Virginia, sprang into action to assist the helpless little kitty named Mia Noel. The heartfelt note left with her pleaded for a kind soul to come to her rescue.
“We couldn’t ignore Mia’s plea for help,” Tuckwiller explained as they drove for hours to bring her to safety.

Despite all of the challenges Mia had faced, the kind-hearted calico was incredibly affectionate and caring.
Following a check-up at Kanawha Valley Animal Emergency Services, the vet concluded that her leg injury was too severe to be saved, but reassured that the little kitty would heal and flourish.

After undergoing surgery, Tuckwiller paid a visit to her courageous little rescue. “As soon as I entered the room and gently touched her head, she immediately tried to get up. I reassured her that she didn’t need to move, but being a cat, she didn’t listen,” Tuckwiller recalled.

“Miss Mia bravely stood up and took her first steps. Like any young amputee, she stumbled a bit, but eventually made it to her destination. When she reached me, she affectionately bumped her head against my chin, looked at me with grateful eyes, and let out a loud purr.”
