“Bat-Panther Hybrid: Meet the Rare and Docile Feline Vampire”

This unique kind of cat has its roots in the Siamese breed. While their appearance may be striking, they are actually very friendly and gentle animals who wouldn’t hurt a fly. They’re fond of being close to their owners and are notorious for being fantastic snuggle partners. What’s more, they even like to play fetch with their human pals!

The breed's unique look gets them lots of attention with many people saying that they look more like bats

The Oriental Shorthair cat is a fascinating breed that draws many people in with their unique appearance. Some describe them as a cross between a panther and a bat. However, despite their striking looks, these cats have a calm and affectionate personality. Tuomas Ikonen, an illustrator from Lemi, Finland, is the proud owner of three Oriental Shorthairs named Hugo, Toivo, and Hannu. Though they may look like vampires, they are actually gentle and loving pets. Toivo stands out the most with his panther and bat-like features, but he’s a harmless creature who enjoys being carried around by their daughter. On the other hand, Hugo is a peaceful cat who prefers to spend his time sleeping by the fireplace and enjoying his food.

Toivo is sweet natured and playful, says his owner

As per his owner, Tuomas, Toivo is a friendly and loving feline with a calm demeanor. Although he may not be as energetic as when he was younger, Toivo sometimes participates in the playtime of other cats. He finds joy in observing birds and squirrels outside the window and likes to play with his toy mouse, often dropping it in glasses or cups filled with water. Moreover, Toivo has developed an interest in watching bird videos on YouTube. Unlike Toivo, Hannu, a different cat owned by Tuomas, enjoys playing fetch with toys and has a naughty side, occasionally taking his daughter’s stuffed animals without her knowledge. Additionally, Hannu is fond of eating.

The breed is becoming more and more popular

The Meowrientals Instagram page is dedicated to the daily lives of three Oriental Shorthair cats, who are all tabbies. With nearly 20,000 followers, this account shares candid photos of the feline trio as they go about their business. These cats may look intimidating, but in fact they are social, intelligent, and love to communicate with their owners. They remain playful throughout their lives and even have been known to play fetch. Originating from Thailand, these cats have a strong connection to Siamese cats. However, they were developed in the US by New York cat breeders who were intrigued by the lynx pattern on Siamese cats. The owner of the Meowrientals account, Tuomas, revealed that these cats love to partake in everything that he and his family do. They follow them around everywhere, enjoy watching the cooking process, and even sleep in their bed.
