Brosnan used to be a scared and wild little guy who wouldn’t let anyone get close to him until he found a cat buddy at his temporary home. Slowly but surely, he started to open up and embrace love and companionship.
Six months ago, Friends for Life Rescue Network, a local rescue group in Los Angeles, received a distress call about a cat mama and her kittens in need of rescue. The felines were found living under a dumpster at a Montebello shopping mall. Despite efforts by Good Samaritans to save some of the kittens, the cat mama and the shyest kitten, Brosnan, proved to be elusive and avoided the traps set by volunteers.
“After numerous unsuccessful attempts, I decided to use a drop trap. Mama cat was the first to venture underneath it, but Brosnan remained terrified and refused to leave his hiding spot under the dumpster,” shared Jacqueline DeAmor, co-founder of Friends for Life Rescue Network, with Love Meow.
At Friends for Life RescueNetwork, Jacqueline DeAmor had a heartwarming experience when a shy kitten finally emerged from hiding to join its mother for a meal after a long wait. Both cat and kitten were captured together and placed in foster care along with the other rescues. One particular cat, Brosnan, was especially timid and refused to let anyone come close to him. According to Jacqueline, Brosnan was more feral than his siblings, making it difficult for her to interact with him for the first month.
Jacqueline DeAmor from Friends for Life RescueNetwork pointed out that she noticed the dog had not been properly socialized, and his personality was starting to take shape. Despite this, he had a great love for toys. Jacqueline made it a daily routine to play with him and gradually bring the toys closer to her.
In early February, Brosnan was moved to a new foster home with Kaitlyn, who had a lot of experience in socializing feral kittens. Kaitlyn mentioned that when he first arrived, he required a significant amount of socialization. Brosnan was extremely shy, would shy away from them, and even hiss when they entered the room, Kaitlyn shared with Love Meow.
Kaitlyn had a feeling that Brosnan could use a furry friend, so they decided to bring Rudy into their home. Rudy, a charming ginger cat they fostered and eventually adopted, seemed like the ideal companion for Brosnan.
“We were excited to see how Brosnan and Rudy would get along, as Brosnan had never really had the opportunity to socialize and play with other cats. He always showed curiosity and interest whenever he crossed paths with other felines.”
Slumber party at O’s @sleepover_at_os was a success as soon as the kitties met. Kaitlyn shared with Love Meow that they wasted no time in becoming fast friends, wrestling and chasing each other around the room with no hesitation. It was a bond like she had never seen before.

I believe Brosnan was thrilled to have a pal, and Rudy too. It was quite amusing to see them play around together, considering Brosnan’s size – he’s quite big for a 7-month-old, over 10 lbs, while Rudy is pint-sized, about half of Brosnan’s size.
These inseparable pals are always by each other’s side, whether they’re playing, cuddling, or giving each other a good face wash.
Having a sleepover at O’s was a great experience for Rudy and his new friend. Kaitlyn shared with Love Meow that Rudy, who has always been shy, was able to gain confidence by hanging out with his new buddy. They both supported each other in overcoming their fears and now they are as close as littermates. Kaitlyn is now introducing them to the other cats in the house, both personal and foster, so they can adjust and feel comfortable in their new surroundings.

Brosnan is currently content and craving attention from his temporary caretaker. He has made significant strides since his fearful beginnings as a tiny kitten rescued from under a dumpster.
“While confidence is still something he’s building, both of them are improving daily and having each other definitely makes a difference!”
