A pair stumbled upon a lone kitten fending for herself outdoors. Together, they devised a strategy to save and bring her into their home.
Betty H. and her husband discovered a stray kitty outside their home towards the end of 2018. The cute little cat, with one blue eye and one green eye, was shy, unkempt, and obviously in need of food. “We decided to leave out some food and water to help her out, and she started coming around more often,” Betty shared with Love Meow.
Since no one stepped forward to claim the cat (dubbed Fluffy), the couple decided to take matters into their own hands in the new year. Betty made it a routine to feed Fluffy three times a day, hoping to gain her trust. “I started off by simply being quiet around her. Once she got used to my presence, I began chatting with her while she ate and drank,” Betty explained. “I gradually tried to pet her, and it was clear that she had never experienced a loving owner before.”

Fluffy was initially hesitant to let Betty pet her, often flinching after a few strokes. However, with time, patience, and plenty of reassurance, the kitten began to understand that her human was kind. Gradually, her behavior changed from being fearful of touch to actively seeking out more attention and pets.
Towards the end of her time outside, Fluffy would eagerly approach Betty for pets before even thinking about eating. Betty was amazed to witness this transformation in a stray cat, sharing her story with Love Meow.

In the middle of February, Fluffy finally found the bravery to join her humans inside their house and became a cherished member of the family. Betty shared, “I decided to give her a bath, which was likely her first ever. Her nose had black spots and her paws had stubborn orange stains that wouldn’t come off. She had bald spots and tangled, dirty knots in her fur.”
Betty H. shared on her social media account @fluffythepuppycat how Fluffy was so content while being wrapped in a cozy towel after a bath, purring loudly as she snuggled in her owner’s arms. It wasn’t until they took her to the vet that they discovered Fluffy had worms, a stomach infection, and ear mites. With love and care, they nursed the kitten back to health over the following days, even giving her a haircut to get rid of all the tangles and mats in her fur.
