When Amanda Kruczynski first started volunteering as a foster parent five years ago, she was taught that one of the key principles of fostering is finding the good in saying goodbye. The ultimate aim of fostering is to help children and families reunite and thrive, making goodbye a positive outcome to strive for.
“Amanda explained to Love Meow that it’s their responsibility to care for these pets until they are healthy, confident, and ready to find their forever homes. She believes that saying goodbye can be a good thing, but sometimes the pet chooses you to be their permanent home.”
“Around a year ago, Amanda’s life was forever changed by a curly haired kitten named Meeseeks. He was discovered in a cardboard box outside in the rain with his feline family. After being rescued, they were taken to Broward County Animal Care where they were placed in foster care.”
After dropping by the shelter the following day, Amanda was quickly informed about a small cat family in need. “The mother was a long-haired diluted tortoiseshell who tested positive for FIV, and most of the siblings had long fur, except for Meeseeks,” Amanda shared. “He seemed to be a mix of Devon Rex.”
The little cats were in urgent need of a temporary home, and without a second thought, Amanda volunteered to provide them with the care they needed.

Meeseeks, the runt of the litter, was a tiny little thing weighing less than half a pound. From the beginning, he craved cuddles and would snuggle up in a ball small enough to fit in his foster mom’s hand. He formed a strong bond with Amanda right away, becoming her constant companion. Wherever she went, he would follow closely, like a loyal shadow. “He always kept a watchful eye on me. I couldn’t even sneak behind a closed door without discovering him waiting for me on the other side.”
A few weeks later, Amanda received heartbreaking news after the kittens’ test results came back. The results showed that they had tested positive for panleukopenia, a disease that is usually fatal in kittens their age. Despite the difficult news, Amanda was determined to not give up and vowed to fight alongside the little felines until the very end.
@meeseeksyouout tweeted that despite facing numerous challenges, Meeseeks and his siblings managed to survive after a week of constant care. Meeseeks, the smallest of the litter, defied the odds and showed resilience. He found solace and affection in Amanda’s presence, which may have motivated him to continue battling through his struggles.
@meeseeksyouout shared the heartwarming tale of how Amanda thought it was time to say goodbye to the kitties when she brought them to the shelter for adoption. But then Meeseeks, one of the fluffy siblings, gazed up at her, almost as if he was eagerly ready to sign the adoption papers himself. It was a moment that tugged at her heartstrings and made her reconsider their separation.
@meeseeksyouout had a surprising revelation that Meeseeks required Amanda for a different purpose. It turns out, Meeseeks has a health issue that went unnoticed during his early days.
“Several trips to the vet confirmed that he was unlike any other and without a proper diagnosis, his health rapidly declined,” Amanda explained. “After enduring three rounds of aspiration pneumonia, exploratory surgery, and being misdiagnosed with cancer, Meeseeks was eventually diagnosed with Feline Gastrointestinal Eosinophilic Sclerosing Fibroplasia.”
According to @meeseeksyouout, FGESF is a recent inflammatory condition that affects Meeseeks’ ability to properly digest food. Amanda informed Love Meow that there is no way to predict how long he will live, and his vet constantly keeps up with new research to ensure he receives the most current treatment.
Meeseeks will have to cope with this condition forever, but for now, they are managing it with daily steroids, weekly B12 shots, and anti-nausea medication as needed. From the beginning, Meeseeks has shown great resilience, and they are confident that he will continue to fight for a long time to come.

Amanda makes the most of each day with her beloved feline companion, who always manages to keep a positive attitude no matter what. “Whether he’s perched on a window sill or chasing after that pesky red dot from a laser pointer, he never fails to bring joy to our family,” she shared.
His strong bond with his human mom remains unwavering. “If I step into another room, he’s right behind me, and when it’s bedtime, he’s quick to paw at my pillow to snuggle under the covers with me. He’s a total cuddle bug, and our shared journey means everything to me,” Amanda expressed.
@meeseeksyouout shared that Mr. Meeseeks recently turned one on October 1st. They celebrated his unexpected first birthday, which brought them even closer together. Amanda believes that Mr. Meeseeks understood the significance of their bond and how important they were to each other. The little furry friend has changed her outlook on life and taught her valuable lessons, showing that love can come in the form of four paws and a wagging tail.
