Inseparable: A Bond That Was Formed Between a Cat and Her Kitten After a Joint Rescue

Cat and Her Kitten Won't Leave Each Other's Side After They Were Rescued Together

A rescued mama cat and her single kitten have formed an extraordinary connection.

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie shared a heartwarming story about a pregnant stray cat taken in by the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington D.C. The cat was very thin and went into labor, but sadly only one kitten survived. The mom cat, named Shauna, was incredibly devoted to her surviving kitten and refused to leave his side.

Susie, a volunteer foster mom, brought Shauna and her kitten home to provide a comfortable and peaceful environment. However, Shauna was not able to produce milk due to complications, so Susie had to step in and provide constant feedings for the kitten for the first three weeks.

“We worked together as a team to care for Shane,” Susie shared with Love Meow, highlighting the dedication and love she shared with Shauna and her kitten during this challenging time.

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie shared that once Shauna regained her strength, she embraced her role as a dedicated mother, ensuring her baby was clean, cozy, and showered with love. The nurturing cat mom would cuddle her little one, soothing him with her purring until they drifted off to sleep. Whenever her baby, Shane, cried out for her, Shauna would rush to his side, gently licking his face to comfort and reassure him of her presence.

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie shared that the caring mother never left her baby’s side and showered him with love at all times. As Shane began taking his first steps, Shauna was there by his side, keeping a close eye on him throughout the process. And if he strayed a little too far, she would quickly rush to his side to guide him back to safety.

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie observed Mama Shauna’s careful attention to her baby. Despite allowing Susie to feed the baby, Mama Shauna closely watched over them, always nearby. As soon as feeding was complete and the baby let out a meow, Mama Shauna promptly responded, taking the baby back into her care and returning him to the nest.

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie shared that when Shauna’s milk supply returned, Shane lost interest in bottles and preferred nursing throughout the day. Even as he got older and could eat solid food, he continued to seek comfort and nourishment from his mom at the “milk-bar.” Their strong bond is truly heartwarming.

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie tweeted that Shauna’s love for her kitten brings her joy, while Shane is still very attached to his mother and shows no signs of wanting to become independent. She also observed how Shane’s eye color has changed over time, noting that he may take after his mom in more ways than one.

Susie H from @dcfostermomsusie shared the heartwarming story of Shane’s adoption. When Shane was ready for his neuter surgery, a family came to meet him and his mom. Instantly, a bond was formed and it was clear that they were meant to be together.
“They completely won them over,” Susie exclaimed. “After everything they’ve been through, it’s wonderful to know that they will now have a loving and secure home to grow up in together.”

Susie H @dcfostermomsusie shared a heartwarming update about the mother and son duo, who are now known as Jasmine and Raja, as they embrace their new forever family. Their journey from being rescued together to finding love and happiness has been truly remarkable.

According to Susie H, Shane transformed from a tiny, vulnerable kitten small enough to fit in her hand, into a fluffy and cheerful cuddle buddy who would eagerly respond whenever she called his name.
