Prepare yourself for a touching story that showcases the loving and grateful nature of our beloved feline companions.
Introducing Leo, a charming cat with only one ear, whose life has been filled with challenges.
Leo’s life took a tragic turn when his owner passed away, leaving him and two other cats in the care of his son. Sadly, the son chose to euthanize two of the cats without a second thought, displaying a lack of compassion towards them.

Leo, a senior cat around 10–12 years old, was left outside with little food and water, a stark contrast to his previous life. Unaccustomed to the harsh outdoor conditions, he was lucky that a kind-hearted woman named Louise stepped in to rescue him. With her persistence, she managed to persuade the man to give up Leo and allow her to take care of him.

Leo was in a critical state and required urgent assistance. Once Louise laid eyes on him, she understood the importance of rushing him to the nearest veterinary hospital. However, the situation became even more difficult as no shelter was able to accommodate him.

Fortunately, Baby Kitten Rescue based in Los Angeles, CA, came forward to provide financial support for Leo’s medical needs while Louise volunteered to foster him. United, they set out on a tough journey to assist Leo in regaining his well-being and joy.

Caroline Grace, the brains behind Baby Kitten Rescue, shared the story of Leo’s arrival at their shelter. Leo was in a sorry state – skinny, thirsty, and anemic from pesky fleas. His teeth were all messed up and he even had a broken tooth! His fur was so tangled that they had to give him a full shave. To top it off, a part of his right ear was missing from an old injury, and he was limping from neglecting an injury to his right leg.

But Leo’s spirit was unbreakable. Despite his rough shape, he exuded warmth and affection, almost like he knew that he was finally in good hands.

Leo’s biggest wish was for love and friendship, and he was soon going to get even more than that. Grace mentioned, “We will go above and beyond to ensure that this darling boy has a joyful, comfortable, and cherished remainder of his days.” In just a short time of readjusting to being indoors, Leo began to open up. Although he had his favorite hiding spot behind the chair, he always made sure to say hello to the person who rescued him.

Whenever Louise walked into the room, Leo would immediately come over to her. Louise recalled, “He would walk through my legs, purring for attention. It was clear he craved love and would follow me around like a loyal puppy.” With specialized medications and treatments, Leo’s health began to improve significantly. Following a thorough dental treatment, Leo transformed into a completely rejuvenated cat. Despite missing a few teeth, Leo’s appetite grew stronger and he continued to eat like a champion. This increase in food intake also resulted in a boost of energy for playful activities.

Leo ended up being quite the food enthusiast, but his heart belonged to someone else more than his meals – Louise.
Each morning, he would awaken her with gentle and affectionate meows, showing his appreciation with head bumps and cheek rubs.
It was almost like he was expressing his thankfulness to her for rescuing him and giving him a new lease on life.
Once he had greeted and thanked Louise, he would then make his way to his food dish, eagerly anticipating his breakfast.

Thanks to the excellent medical treatment, care, and love Leo received, he started to show remarkable improvement. His hind legs healed completely, allowing him to move around just like any other feline. Grace, his caregiver, mentioned that although he experiences some discomfort from arthritis, they are incorporating daily exercises suggested by the physical therapy vet. Additionally, Leo is scheduled to start acupuncture therapy next week to aid in his healing process.

Despite his health challenges, Grace described Leo as an incredibly affectionate and kind-hearted boy. His favorite thing to do is cuddle up to you and nuzzle you with his head. However, as time went by, it became clear that Leo preferred to have his own space and was not very keen on sharing it with other pets. He enjoys a peaceful environment and thrives on having a human’s full attention.

Great news! Leo, a kitten in need of foster care, was taken in by Cindy from Los Angeles. He has settled in quickly and now sees her home as his own kingdom. Grace shared: “We thought he would take time to acclimate to his new surroundings, but in just a few minutes, he was already wandering around, rubbing against Cindy, and purring happily. He’s really taken a shine to his new home.”
